Still dream to play for Pakistan: Mohammad Amir hints at retirement U-turn, expresses desire to play ICC T20 World Cup

Another U-Turn in the cards? Former Pakistani pacer Mohammad Amir has made himself available ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup. Back in 2020 he retired from the game, but now that the ICC tournament is approaching, he aspires to represent the Men in Green yet again.

Back while retiring he blamed the Pakistan Cricket Team management for mentally torturing him. Now at the age of 31-years, Amir has expressed his desire to play the ICC T20 World Cup. Taking to social media he claimed that there was few positive discussion with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

“I still dream to play for Pakistan! Life brings us to the points where at times we have to reconsider our decisions. There have been a few positive discussions between myself and the PCB where they respectfully made me feel that I was needed and can still play for Pakistan, and after discussing with family and well wishers I declare that I am available to be considered for upcoming T20 WC,” Mohammad Amir wrote in a social media post.

“I want do this for my country as it comes before my personal decisions. Donning the green jersey and serving my country has always been, and will continue to be, my greatest aspiration,” Amir added.

For Pakistan it has been U-Turns in terms of retirement. Recently, Imad Wasim came out of retirement to be available for T20 World Cup. It is safe to say that Mohammad Amir too is following the same pattern.

In the recently concluded Pakistan Super League (PSL 2024) Amir featured for Quetta Gladiators where he scalped 10 wickets from 9 games.
