Mohammed Siraj has been a match-winner for Royal Challengers Bengaluru with the ball on numerous occasions in the past. The pace spearhead is one of the most difficult bowlers to face as he mixes up his pace considerably. But who knew Siraj could pack a punch with the bat too? Siraj’s batting was in full display on Saturday in a video uploaded by RCB on their social media channel.
‘Quality Shots’
In the video uploaded on RCB’s X (previously Twitter) handle, Siraj is seen hitting some fantastic shots in the nets. The bowler can be seen hitting the balls over covers, mid wicket and mid off. Siraj even plays a square cut to perfection. Siraj’s display led coach Andy Flower to say “Those are quality shots” before adding “if he opens, he will probably not get so many pitched up deliveries.”
Not Test cricket
Such was the intensity of Siraj’s batting that he was asked to play some defensive shots as two balls were lost as the byproduct of his onslaught. Siraj, although, did not appear to be too happy when he was asked to defend. He even quipped, “Are we playing Test cricket?”
RCB may need some inspiration as a batting unit. They have been in dismal form with the bat, with only Virat Kohli among the runs consistently. Can Siraj provide that much-needed push? Fun and games aside, Siraj might just be the answer for RCB.
