Mitchell Starc wreaks havoc on India with 15th five-wicket-haul, his first-ever vs IND as the visitors crumble in IND vs AUS 2nd Test in Adelaide

Mitchell Starc was at his absolute best in 1st innings of IND vs AUS 2nd Test in Adelaide as he dismantled the Indian batting order categorically. After grabbing three wickets in the 1st session of play, the Australian pacer went on to take two more in the 2nd session to complete his 15th five-wicket haul. The fifer is also Starc’s first against India.

Starc takes first fifer against India in IND vs AUS 2nd Test

Starc opened his account in the very first delivery of the match. He responded in style to Yashasvi Jaiswal’s “too slow” sledge in Perth as he trapped the southpaw for an LBW, getting rid of him for a golden duck. Just when India thought they had regained complete control, Starc struck once again, this time to remove KL Rahul. Two overs later, he bowled a short length delivery outside the off to lure Virat Kohli into playing straight into the hands of Steve Smith at slips.

It was then Starc’s turn to strike once again after lunch. He put an end to Ravichandran Ashiwn’s defiant yet aggressive knock to get the much needed breakthrough for Australia. His hammered his final nail in India’s coffin by cleaning up Harshit Rana to complete his five-wicket haul.

Opting to bat first after winning the toss, India got off to a nightmare of a start in Adelaide. KL Rahul, who survived a couple of scares at the hands of Boland, managed to hold fort for a while along with Shubman Gill before Starc and co. struck. The likes of Rishabh Pant, Rohit Sharma failed to fire either. With Scott Boland striking twice and Cummins once, India were reduced to 8 wickets before Dinner break on Day 1 of IND vs AUS 2nd Test, which is a Pink-Ball affair.
