Mitchell Marsh’s warm gesture to young fan tops hometown heroics at PAK vs AUS Test

Mitchell Marsh starred with the bat in both the innings, playing a crucial role for his side in the 1st PAK vs AUS Test in Perth

Hometown hero Mitchell Marsh made a young fan’s day with a warm gesture after Australia’s emphatic win over Pakistan in the 1st Test at Perth. Marsh was adjudged the Player of the Match for his gritty knocks in both innings of the 1st Test. The all-rounder was interacting with fans when he spotted a young fan and decided to make his day a little more special.

In the video of the warm gesture which is doing rounds, Marsh is removing the medal from his neck and putting it on the young fan.

Hometown heroics from Marsh!

Marsh played a gritty 90-run knock in the 1st innings of PAK vs AUS 1st Test, helping the home side post a huge score. His sublime form continued in the 2nd innings as he remained not out on 63 when Australia declared the second innings.

“My first Test match at this stadium, first at Perth in six years, so it’s a nice feeling. When I went out, the lead was big and so the pressure was off, but this was a tricky wicket, so I had to gauge the conditions before playing my shots. Batting is my priority, we’ve got such an amazing bowling attack, so happy to contribute with the ball and it’s a great feeling to take Babar out”, Marsh said at the post-match presentation.

PAK vs AUS 2nd Test

Riding high on a win in the 1st Test, Australia have named the same squad for the Boxing Day Test against Pakistan. The hosts made just one change to their squad, releasing pacer Lance Morris who will take part in the BBL. AUS will now have a 13-member squad for the 2nd Test instead of 14.

Australia squad: Pat Cummins (c), Scott Boland, Alex Carey, Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Mitch Marsh, Steve Smith, Mitch Starc, David Warner
