Mitchell Marsh gets nasty dent on helmet after lethal bouncer from Aamer Jamal

The incident occurred in the 48th over on Day 4 of as Mitchell Marsh attempted a pull shot off a short delivery from Aamir Jamal

Australia were concerned for a brief bit after Mitchell Marsh was struck on the head by a nasty short delivery from Aamir Jamal. The delivery ricocheted off Marsh’s helmet to the boundary behind, forcing a concussion check on the batter. The incident occurred in the last delivery of the 48th over on Day 4 of the 1st PAK vs AUS Test.

Marsh attempted a pull short off a short delivery that was dug in by Jamal. The ball deflected after crashing on to the all-rounder’s helmet and went on to the boundary past the fielder at the slips. The incident prompted a physio to be called out to do a mandatory concussion check for Marsh.

A replacement for the helmet was called for following with the batter resumed the game after checking the equipment.

PAK vs AUS 1st Test

Australia are currently leading by over 350 runs in the 2nd innings of the 1st PAK vs AUS Test. A gritty knock from Usman Khawaja saw him bring up his half-century in Perth While David Warner failed to fire after his first innings heroics, Labuschagne was also dismissed cheaply. Steve Smith fought to make 45 runs before he too was dismissed.

After bundling out Pakistan for 271 on Day 3, Australia were reduced to 5 for 2. However, Smith and Khawaja stitched an unbeaten 79-run partnership to extend hosts’ lead to 300.

Earlier, Australia’s fast bowlers delivered compelling spells on Day 3, probing the Pakistani batsmen with their pace. Resuming on 132/2, Australia got rid of night watchman Khurram Shahzad early. However, Imam-ul-Haq and Babar Azam kept Pakistan ticking with a 51-run stand. However, former Pakistan skipper’s wicket led to collapse with Pakistan losing their last 6 wickets for 90 runs.

Nathan Lyon was the pick of the bowlers’ for the host with a 3-wicket haul. Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc claimed two each, while Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head plucked one wicket each.
