Mitchell Marsh banks on Bangladesh win to help Australia qualify for T20 World Cup semis

T20 World Cup: Australia skipper Mitchell Marsh backs Bangladesh to beat Afghanistan after India overpowers Australia in Super 8

Australia’s chances of qualifying for the ICC T20 World Cup is severely diminished. The Indian Cricket Team defeated the Men in Yellow by 24 runs as Australia lose their 2nd match in Super 8s. Now Australia will have to heavily rely on the results of AFG vs BAN clash. Australia can now only qualify if Bangladesh win by less than 61 runs. And thus Australian skipper Mitchell Marsh is thoroughly backing the Bengal Tigers.

Despite a strong batting show by Travis Head, Australia collapsed and failed to chase down a big target set by India. Mitchell Marsh after the match claimed that India were the better team and lavished huge praises for Indian skipper Rohit Sharma.

“It’s disappointing. Still technically a chance to go through, and today India got the better of us. I think over the course of 40 overs there’s a lot of small margins, but honestly, India were the better team. We’ve seen for 15 years what Rohit Sharma can do in that kind of mood, and he got off to an absolute flier. In a run chase like that, you’re in it if you can keep it at tens for as long as possible, but India were too good for us. Come on, Bangladesh!,” Mitchell Marsh said after the game.

How can Australia Qualify for Semis?

There is now only once way in which Australia can make it to the semi finals. The conditions are pretty simple, Bangladesh have to beat Afghanistan but have to do it by less than 61 runs.
