Notably, Kishan has been out of the cricketing action since December when he opted out of the Test series against South Africa midway citing mental fatigue.

While the BCCI and head coach Rahul Dravid urged the young batter to return to first class cricket to make himself available for selection, Kishan continued to skip Jharkhand’s league matches in the Ranji Trophy.

Reports claimed that BCCI secretary, Jay Shah gave a stern message to centrally-contracted as well as India A cricketers of ‘severe implications’ if they did not play domestic cricket.

What’s next for Ishan Kishan?

The Jharkhand-born batter will reportedly make a comeback on cricket field with DY Patil T20 tournament.

He will then join Mumbai Indians’ camp for the IPL 2024 season, starting on March 23.

The Hardik Pandya-led side will face Gujarat Titans in their opening game of the tournament on March 24.
