MI’s former support staff appointed as fielding coach for Bangladesh

Former Mumbai Indians support staff James Pamment appointed as Bangladesh's fielding coach till 2027 ODI World Cup campaign.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced on Monday (April 7) that James Pamment has been appointed as the fielding coach of the national team. Pamment was Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Mumbai Indians feilding coach in 2023.

James Pamment appointed fielding coach until World Cup 2027

According to Cricbuzz, his tenure will run through to the ICC ODI World Cup, scheduled for October-November 2027.

Pamment is set to join the Bangladesh squad ahead of their upcoming Test series against Zimbabwe later this month, taking over from Nic Pothas, who recently stepped down.

“I am really excited about the opportunity to get involved with a very talented Bangladesh side. I am eagerly looking forward to joining the players and the backroom staff ahead of the Zimbabwe series,” Pamment said.

Who is James Pamment?

James Pamment was born in England and currently resides in New Zealand, played first-class cricket for Auckland.

Having served with the Mumbai Indians as an assistant coach and fielding expert, he has a wealth of coaching knowledge. In addition, Pamment had several positions with New Zealand Cricket, including Fielding Resource Coach and Specialist Technical Advisor for the national, A, and Under-19 teams. She also spent five years as Head Coach of the Northern District Cricket Association.

He temporarily served as the USA team’s temporary coach and was New Zealand’s assistant coach during their 2011 home series against Pakistan.
