Michael Vaughan predicts 4 semi-finalists of T20 World Cup, Indian fans slam ex-captain for leaving Rohit Sharma’s team out

Taking to X, Vaughan picked up England, South Africa, Australia, West Indies as his final four teams for the tournament.

Former England captain Michael Vaughan selected teams on Wednesday that he believes will advance to the West Indies and USA semifinals of this year’s ICC T20 World Cup. Vaughan, while naming the teams, left India out of his picks. His choices left the Indian fans fuming, with many pointing out that Vaughan not naming India is a good thing.

Vaughan leaves India out

Taking to X, Vaughan picked up England, South Africa, Australia, West Indies as his final four teams for the tournament.

” My 4 semi-finalists for the T20 WC … England, Australia, South Africa and the West Indies .. #T20WC2024,” tweeted Vaughan.

Rationale behind Vaughan’s prediction

South Africa, Australia, and England have already announced their tournament rosters. The injury-affected return of speedster Jofra Archer gives the English team a boost. The majority of the core that helped Australia win their second T20 World Cup in 2022 has been retained. Newcomers like spinner Tom Hartley, who dazzled during this year’s Test series against India, Phil Salt, the second-ranked T20I batter in the world, and Ben Duckett, England’s Test opener, have been given opportunities to establish themselves.

Indian fans quick to response

Some Indian fans were quick to point out that it was good omen that Vaughan left India out of his four teams. Here’s what they commented.
