Michael Vaughan fears ‘Bazball’ won’t work in IND vs ENG Test series

England have been extremely successful since adopting their new fearless approach, winning 13 of the 18 matches they have played.

Former England Test skipper Michael Vaughan has admitted that he has doubts that Bazball will work in India (IND vs ENG Test series). England adopted the fearless approach in May 2022, when Kiwi great Brendon McCullum joined the English Test team as their head coach. Under him, England and their new approach have found great success. However, Vaughan isn’t too hopeful, fearing the Indian spin trio will tear England’s fearless approach into pieces.

“Ultimately, the hardest place to play in the world is India,” Vaughan said to foxsports.com.au.

Talking about how England and Bazball have struggled against quality spin, he said, “If you actually go back to the Ashes when Nathan Lyon was fit and bowling nicely, Australia were 2-0 up in the series.”

“That was just one innings and a few overs in the first innings at Lords… Nathan came out with a lovely line the other week where he said he’s 2-nil up against Bazball.

Talking about how Nathan Lyon single-handedly downed England in the first two Ashes Tests, Vaughan said he fears that the Indian spin trio of Axar Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Ravindra Jadeja will blow Ben Stokes-led side away in the IND vs ENG Test series.

“If you add in Ashwin, Jadeja, and Axar Patel on spinning wickets in India, they may get blown away. They may get absolutely destroyed.

“It will be great watching, but you will have to fancy three quality spinners might do a job on England when one quality spinner in Nathan Lyon did the job in English conditions.

“It’s going to be very tough for them to win in India,” Vaughan concluded.
