MI vs RR: ‘Unlucky’ Jasprit Bumrah makes batters dance to his tune but fails to get a wicket

Bumrah made the zip around and almost got Jos Buttler caught at mid-off, only for Hardik Pandya to drop a difficult chance.

Akash Madhwal and Kwena Maphaka got one, but Jasprit Bumrah got none. The Mumbai Indians (MI) pace bowling spearhead put up a masterclass that should be remembered for ages in the IPL, but his failure to get a wicket will make people forget the level at which he was bowling.

He was challenging both edges of the bat, making a fool of batters like Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson. The unorthodox pacer gave 7 runs in his first over, all of them extras. He bowled an inducker that straightened after pitching just outside off but failed to get an edge.

Bumrah came steaming to bowl his next over and nearly got Buttler, only for the ball to pop out of Hardik Pandya’s hand after he hit the ground. In the last ball of the over, he induced another edge, but Buttler escaped once again as the ball flew to the third-man boundary.

To have one final crack, he returned in the sixth over. With Samson gone, he troubled Riyan Parag, while Buttler continued to struggle against him. He induced an edge off Parag straightaway, but once again, it evaded the fielder. He gave up just two runs in the over, but the number zero in the wicket column was reflected as he finished the powerplay with the figures of 3-0-19-0.

An all-time spell that may be forgotten just because Jasprit Bumrah was unlucky to not get a wicket.
