MI vs RR: Sanju Samson – Sanju Samson scored only 17 runs against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), but that little cameo was enough to earn him laurels from Rajasthan Royals director Kumar Sangakkara. After RR’s 32 runs win over CSK, the Lankan legend lavished praise on Samson and said, “It’s not about the runs, but the way he scores those runs. He showed intent, led by example. Irrespective of the runs, the tone you set and the example you set is great.” RR skipper’s little cameo helped the likes of Dhruv Jurel and Paddikkal to tee off from ball one. MI vs RR: Skipper Sanju Samson leads by example, puts the team first above induvial performances
For the uninitiated, Jaiswal and Buttler had set the tone early in the innings by scoring 64 runs in the power play. The duo put on 86 runs before Buttler departed in the ninth over. Walking in at three, Samson got going from ball one and did not let RR lose the grip in the game. He supported Jaiswal at the other by playing second fiddle. Sangakkara liked the fact that Samson showed great intent and walked the talk when he said, “At Royals, we don’t play for ourselves but for the team.”
Samson’s positive intent rubbed off on Jurel, who blazed to 15 ball 34 runs. Royals managed to get past 200 for the first time in Jaipur and made their 200th game memorable by winning against CSK for the second time in IPL 2023 season.
