Chasing a target of 200, Mumbai Indians struggled once again with Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan and Dewald Brevis departing in quick succession. Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma kept Mumbai Indians in hunt with a 64-run partnership but could not take the team home.

Kieron Pollard and Jaydev Unadkat also tried their best but some excellent bowling by Dushmantha Chameera and Avesh Khan meant Mumbai could only score 181/9, falling 18-run short.

Earlier, elegant KL Rahul smashed his 3rd IPL century and 100 on his 100th IPL match to power Lucknow Super Giants to 199/4. Manish Pandey supported him well with a 29-ball 38-run knock.

Sent to bat, Rohit Sharma’s puzzling decision to hold back Jasprit Bumrah until 4th over meant KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock were off to a great start. The duo set the stage with a 52-run opening stand. After De Kock was removed by Fabian Allen, KL Rahul partnered Manish Pandey for a brilliant 72-run stand for the third wicket. While LSG lost Marcus Stoinis and Deepak Hooda, KL Rahul didn’t seem to struggle. He single-handedly carried LSG to 199/4, remaining unbeaten for 103.
