MI vs LSG Live: 3 changes Rohit Sharma and Co can implement to get their winning combination right – Check Out

After his injury comeback, Suryakumar Yadav has been MI’s best batter. At number four, Surya has struck two blistering fifties and has even batted till the end. In fact against RCB, the cricketer went unbeaten on 68 runs. But with MI exhibiting the worst run-rate (6.75) in the 7-16 overs stage, Sky should be promoted to number three. Surya is the best batter who should face the maximum deliveries. All in all, the 31-year old has also looked the most well-settled batter
2. Lack of big-name match winners apart from the retained players
Mumbai’s performances so far this season have been a combination of two things: 1- Key match winners not finding their rhythm yet and 2- A lack of solid performers who can step up to the plate and fill the void of big name players not managing to deliver.
It is often said that a captain is only as good as his team. In Rohit Sharma, MI have a very capable captain, who has taken them to a record 5 IPL titles. But this season, after the major reshuffle that happened ahead of the last player auction, Rohit’s hands are tied a bit, in terms of the talent at his disposal.

MI did retain four of their biggest match-winners in Rohit, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav and Kieron Pollard, but with the key match-winners not finding their rhythm yet it is becoming seemingly evident a team needs more than four players to consistently win.
3. Pacers need to stop leaking runs
Mumbai Indians’ pacers have been the least economical of all sides this year, conceding at a rate of 9.6 runs per over, which is one of the root causes of their failures as a team.

None of the bowlers, bar Jasprit Bumrah to some extent, have been able to keep a lid on the runs conceded, with Sams, Mills, Thampi all being taken to the cleaners game after game. Sams and Mills were even dropped from the squad despite the latter being the leading wicket-taker for the Mumbai Indians.
A quick fix to this issue is to bring in Riley Meredith and/or Mohd. Arshad Khan. While neither of them guarantee low economy rates, Meredith adds sheer pace to the attack while Khan adds a potential left-arm option in the powerplay which could allow for more of Jasprit Bumrah in the latter half of the innings.
