MI vs KKR IPL 2021: After clinical win against RCB, can KKR drub MI in Abu Dhabi? What a dream start Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have had to the second leg of IPL 2021. Eoin Morgan led side would be aiming to carry forward their hot form against Mumbai Indians after they thrashed Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by nine wickets and 10 overs to spare on Monday. KKR would take on MI at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi on September 23, Thursday.
Clinching a win at the very start, the purple brigade would be brimming with confidence after their top performance both with the bat and the ball. Besides their tried and tested players- Shubman Gill, Varun Chakravarthy and Andre Russell who rose to the occasion in the tournament opener, KKR have found a solid opener- Venkatesh Iyer. The KKR opener returned with 41 not out from 27 balls.
The rivalry between the two sides is fierce as per the current standings of the tournament. With four wins in eight games, MI are at the fourth spot in the points table. KKR, on the other hand, hang just below MI at number five, having won three of their eight games.
Concerns for MI ahead of their clash against KKR
- Will MI all-rounder Hardik Pandya play? Pandya missed the opening game against Chennai Super Kings as a precautionary measure due to a little niggle.
- MI captain Rohit Sharma also wasn’t part of the MI. However, head coach Mahela Jayawardene confirmed Sharma’s availability for the next match.
