50 up in no time

Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan are off to a flying start, bringing up 50-run stand within 5 overs. The India captain is the main aggressor while Ishan isn’t far away.

Rohit rules powerplay

Mumbai Indians post 75 in powerplay and it’s Rohit Sharma who bossed over the first 6 overs. He is on 49 off just 23.

Rohit b Axar!

MI lose first wicket. Rohit looked formidable until the delivery by Axar Patel. He has cleaned up Rohit and with that, DC have a breakthrough.

MI 80/1 after 7

SKYfall!

Mumbai waited for him eagerly. SKY was supposed to be the saviour. But he falls for a silver duck after an 115-day exile due to injury. Anirch Nortje strikes!

MI 81/2 after 7.3

Ishan follows SKY back!

And Mumbai have lost another wicket. Ishan Kishan seemed destined for a big score. But Axar Patel had other ideas. It was an excellent catch by Axar and that could haunt MI.

MI 111/3 after 11.1

No fireworks by Tilak!

Mumbai are four down. Tilak looked in good touch but he falls to Khaleel Ahmed’s short-ball trap. He tries to go square but Axar Patel was there and he took an easy catch.

MI 121/4 after 12.4

Last 4!

Hardik Pandya and Tim David are on the crease at death. But the run rate is not as high as they would have expected. Can Hardik-David take MI to 200?

MI 153/4 after 16

50-run stand

Hardik Pandya and Tim David have brought up 50-run stand. David is going strong at the death and that is the knock MI have been expecting of him.

MI 178/4 after 17.1

Hardik departs!

It wasn’t a fluent knock and Hardik Pandya departs for 32-ball 39 as Anrich Nortje strikes. Tim David is still on the crease and MI need him to fire.

MI 183/5 after 18

200-up!

Tim David takes Mumbai past 200-run mark. He has been batting well.

MI 202/5 after 19

4, 6, 6, 6, 4, 6

Mayhem! Romario Shepherd goes ballistic. He hammers Anrich Nortje for 32 runs. Mumbai finish with 234/5

Chase begins!

Prithvi Shaw and David Warner begin for Delhi. They have a mammoth 235-run chase in hand. Can DC shatter records?

Slow start for DC!

Prithvi Shaw scores only 11 runs in the first two overs. Warner is yet to face a delivery after 2 overs.

Warner gone!

Delhi Capitals have lost their first wicket and it’s David Warner. After batter Romario Shepherd, bowler Shepherd strikes.

DC 22/1 after 3.4 ovs

No power-play!

Mumbai were 75/0 and Delhi have posted just 47/1. Prithvi Shaw is going at snail pace. Abhishek Porel is on the crease but he also hasn’t had a good start.

DC 46/1 after 6 ovs

DC going strong

Shaw is showing signs of coming back to form. He has smashed 47 from 30 already and DC need him at the crease. Score moves to 69/1 after 8 overs.

Shaw’s 50

Coetzee comes for the next over, and he is smashed for two fours on the trot to reach his first fifty of IPL.

100 up

This chase is on track here. 100 is up in the 11th over itself. And Shaw needs to continue here. He has raced into 60s here. DC need 128 from 54 balls here.

Okay, match over?

Bumrah has uprooted Shaw’s leg stump. What a ball here by the best bowler in the world. Shaw is out for 66. It is 110/2.

DC need 97 off 36

Delhi are ahead of Mumbai at this stage. But with Romario Shepherd and Tim David going hammer and tongs, MI posted 234. Can anyone do that job for DC today?

DC 138/2 after 14

Porel gone!

It was an excellent battle between Porel and Bumrah. Yorker after yorker and Porel somehow managed to play a paddle sweep for a 4. But Bumrah has the last laugh and he removes Porel on a slower fulltoss.

DC 144/3 after 15

Bumrah 150

Jasprit Bumrah gets his 150th IPL wicket. He becomes 2nd fastest Indian to get there.

Fewest matches to 150 IPL wickets
105 – Lasith Malinga
118 – Yuzvendra Chahal
124 – Jasprit Bumrah
137 – Dwayne Bravo
139 – Bhuvneswar Kumar

Rishabh Pant gone!

Delhi’s hopes are fading quickly. Rishabh Pant departs, trying to go for the big one and Delhi are 4 down.

DC need 82 off 24

Stubbs keeps going

Tristan Stubbs has kept Delhi going. DC need 63 off 18 and that’s where Romario Shepherd made wonders.

DC need 63 off 18

Bumrah does it for MI

What an exceptional spell by Jasprit Bumrah. He finishes with 2/22 in 4.

Axar Patel run-out

Will it be a blessing in disguise? Axar wasn’t fluent once again and excellent glovework by Ishan Kishan removes the all-rounder.

DC need 41 off 8

Last over!

It all comes down to Romario Shepherd’s 32 runs off last over. DC need 34 off 6.

DC 201/5

All over for DC!

Tristan Stubbs played an exceptional knock of 25-ball 71 but DC had no one else striking at the death. And as a result, DC lose second match in a row. Mumbai finally open their account after a hat-trick of losses with a 29-run win.

MI 234/5 (20)
DC 205/8 (20)

The home team has suffered three consecutive defeats, including a loss in their previous home game against Rajasthan Royals. Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals have faced a similar fate, managing to secure only one win out of their four matches so far.

With five IPL titles to their name, Mumbai Indians find themselves at the bottom of the IPL 2024 standings. Despite having played one game less, Rishabh Pant‘s Delhi Capitals sit above MI with two points from four matches.

Captain Hardik Pandya is also under scrutiny from MI fans after taking over the leadership role from the beloved Rohit Sharma. Pandya faced continuous booing from the crowd during MI’s first home game of the season, which only added to the team’s winless streak.

Wankhede Pitch report:

The Wankhede pitch is predicted to be a belter, favouring batsmen. This might be beneficial for both MI and DC, who rely on their top orders to fire. However, given that this is an afternoon game, spinners may benefit as well, particularly in the first innings. Having said that, teams batting second will have a clear edge.
