MI sure to miss Jasprit Bumrah again vs KKR, given Trent Boult and Deepak Chahar’s poor form

IPL 2025: Jasprit Bumrah has been out of action since early January, where he sustained a back injury during fifth Test in Sydney.

In the first match vs CSK, they played Trent Boult, Deepak Chahar and and Satyanarayana Raju as pacers and failed. Then in the second encounter against GT, this pace trio failed again. MI’s pace bowling attack without Jasprit Bumrah in IPL 2025 has been toothless and this might continue for a while, given no clarity on his comeback date.

MI’s Pace Attack Ineffective in IPL 2025

Now the caravan moves to Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, and MI take on KKR at their home on Monday. But do not expect much of a change for their pacers. They will most likely, once again be going for runs. Boult this year has given away 61 runs in seven overs in two matches for just one wicket, Chahar 2/59 in 6 overs in two matches, and Raju 1/53 in four overs in two matches.

Coming into the match, looking at these stats, KKR batting line up consisting of Sunil Narine, Ajinkya Rahane, Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Quinton De Kock will given themselves a good chance of scoring big against misfiring MI pace attack. Afterall, de Kock is coming on the back of a breezy 97, with Rahane scoring a fifty in IPL 2025 too, and Narine coming good in the first match with 44. Raguvanshi too has scored 52 in two games.

Jasprit Bumrah Only Remedy, But No Clarity on Return

Another reason why MI will miss Jasprit Bumrah majorly is, he has an exceptional record against KKR, where in just 18 matches over the years, he has picked up 25 wickets. That at an average of 20 and a strike rate of 16 at an economy of 7.74. More importantly, his mere presence would have had a positive impact on the side, that is totally struggling for form, having lost two matches on the trot.

Plus, MI don’t really have any more options to fall back on. There is Reece Topley, but his inclusion is unlikely. And then there is Arjun Tendulkar, who just doesn’t seem to instill enough confidence in the team management. And hence, Bumrah is the only key now, for MI to make amends to their poor campaign for now.
