Mumbai Indians (MI) came back to winning ways after they scripted a superb 7 wicket win over the SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Match 55 of IPL 2024. Despite their triumph, the five-time champions face a near impossible task of making it to the playoffs. Currently, MI have won only four of their 12 matches and have eight points. They are ninth, only one spot above Gujarat Titans (GT).
How can MI qualify for IPL 2024 playoffs?
MI heavily need luck going their way in order to have any chance of making it to the playoffs. With 8 points and a net run-rate of -0.21, MI need other games to go their way. Even if Hardik Pandya and co win the reminder of two games, their chances to make it to the top four are very bleak, given that there are already two teams with 12 points each. There are already five teams with 12 or more points, including CSK, SRH and LSG. MI would want two of these sides to lose their remaining league games.
