Mumbai Indians have lost all their four matches and bowling has been their main concern. They miss a quality death overs bowler like Trent Boult to partner Jasprit Bumrah while a second attacking spinner too has been missing. What they have lacked is wicket-takers with Bumrah also misfiring and to aid that Riley Meredith could be called in.
“Right now, we live in the present. Yes, things have not gone according to plan so far, but we keep on fighting and we keep on finding a way. That is the way the game of cricket works. Whenever a challenge comes, you try to find solutions to the challenge and we are trying to do that,” Jasprit Bumrah said at a pre-match press conference.

MI Playing XI vs PBKS: Who could be dropped?
- Dewald Brevis: Despite an impressive start, Baby AB isn’t experienced to handle the pressure and is all set to be dropped.
- Basil Thampi: He has impressed in phases but hasn’t been consistent. He is likely to be dropped for Riley Meredith with Jaudev Unadkat supporting him.
- Kieron Pollard: He might be one of the crucial players of MI but the power-hitter hasn’t been firing. He hasn’t been able to finish the games and haven’t done enough with ball. He could be benched for Tim David and youngster Hrithik Shokeen could be called in.

MI Playing XI vs PBKS: Who will come in?
- Tim David: The Singapore-born Australian all-rounder was dropped after two poor games. But desperate times call desperate measures and he is expected to be called in again.
- Riley Meredith: The Australian speedster has been warming the bench. But with no result from the pace attack, a reshuffle is needed and Meredith is expected to make his debut.

As for the batting line-up, even though all haven’t fired in unison, the top four are all crucial players including captain Rohit Sharma. Amongst the top four only Suryakumar Yadav has shown real fighting spirit since joining the squad from the third match. Ishan Kishan too has shown form besides Tilak Varma but it’s skipper Rohit Sharma’s form that is concerning.
As for spin department, the best MI can offer is Murugan Ashwin. While the leg-spinner has been excellent, they still don’t have another option in the Playing XI. Mayank Markande, Hrithik Shokeen are two options who could bolster the bowling attack.
