This IPL Auction 2025 has seen that after a player is sold to a franchise, generally when an RTM is available, teams go for exponential rise, which is usually unreasonable. But then RCB did not follow the trend and did not enable their RTM for explosive England batter Will Jacks. Entering the IPL Auction at a base price of 2 Cr, his bid went up to INR 5.2 Cr and MI ended up buying him.
RCB Gift Will Jacks to MI
But the visuals emerging from the Auction table were rather amusing. While MI faction led by Anant Ambani was visibly chuffed, RCB looked relieved in the moment. In fact, Anant couldn’t contain his excitement and went on to shake hands with the RCB faction, for not RTMing Jacks.
The decision though came as a massive surprise, considering Jacks smashed a ton for them in IPL 2024. In the eight matches in the edition he went on to score 230 runs, including a 50 as well, at a strike-rate of 175, at an average of 32. Now, with MI, he could have a chance to maybe open the innings with Rohit Sharma.
Meanwhile, MI have been good at the IPL Auction till now, having bagged players like Trent Boult and Naman Dhir till now. One of their biggest purchases of the auction was pacer Deepak Chahar, who was sold for INR 9.25 Cr. Robin Minz was also a steal buy for the team, as he was bought for 65 L only.
