MI Invincibles soon! Mumbai Indians owners RIL bags a new franchise in the Hundred for Rs 1327 crore

The Mumbai Indians global franchise already owns MI (men & women), MI Cape Town, MI Emirates and MI New York.

We have a new Mumbai Indians-owned franchise now! In the ongoing auction for the Hundred franchise, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has struck a magnanimous deal with Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), owners of the global Mumbai Indians (MI) franchise. The Ambani-owned company has bagged the Oval Invinclible franchise for a whopping 123 million pounds, which converts to INR 1327 crore. The update has been confirmed by Cricbuzz.

Mumbai Indians have new sister franchise on board

According to the previous reports, the Mumbai Indians (MI) were looking to buy a 49% stake in the London Spirit or the Oval Invincibles. Both of these teams have a base in London, and it seems that aligns with MI’s plans. Ultimately, they have agreed to strike a deal with the Invincibles franchise. The Oval franchise are the current defending champions of the men’s tournament. The team already has a few players who have played for MI-owned franchises across the globe, including Sam Curran, and Will Jacks.

Previously it was reported that they’d go after the London Spirit, but it turns out there was a conversation with both Hundred teams. They already have their presence in the SA20 (MI Cape Town), Major League Cricket (MI New York), and ILT20 (MI Emirates). Recently, CSK opted out of the sale of the Hundred franchises race.

The Sun Group, the owners of SRH, are looking to get one of the Trent Rockets (Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club) or Northern Superchargers (Yorkshire County Cricket Club). GMR Group, co-owners of DC, had recently acquired Hampshire County Cricket Club and will likely bag the Southern Brave.
