MI Emirates lift ILT20 trophy after Pooran’s masterclass demolishes DC dreams

MI Emirates clinched the second edition of the ILT20 2024 in emphatic fashion, crushing Dubai Capitals by 45 runs in the final. Captain Nicholas Pooran led the charge with a blistering unbeaten 57, guiding his team to a formidable 208/3 despite early pressure.

Put in to bat, Muhammad Waseem and Kusal Perera provided a dream start, smashing 72 runs in the powerplay. However, a tight spell from Capitals slowed down the scoring, and wickets fell at regular intervals.

Nicholas Pooran heroics propel MI Emirates

With the score reading 103/2 in the 14th over, Pooran took control. He hammered six sixes and two fours in his 27-ball knock, propelling Emirates to the highest total of the season. Andre Fletcher’s 53 also provided valuable support.

Dubai Capitals stumble in chase:

Chasing 209, Capitals faltered early. Wickets tumbled regularly, with the highest partnership being just 38 runs. Despite dropping six catches, Emirates maintained control thanks to their dominant batting performance.

Bowlers combine effectively:

Akeal Hosein, Vijayakanth Viyaskanth, and Trent Boult were the pick of the bowlers, taking crucial wickets at regular intervals. While Jason Holder offered some resistance, Capitals never truly threatened the target.
