Meet Rohit Sharma, the wicketkeeper! When the India skipper shed his bat to take the gloves

Rohit is the only cricketer who has a hat-trick and scored a century in the IPL, but did you know the Indian skipper could keep wickets?

Batting, bowling, and wicketkeeping—what can’t Rohit Sharma do? Everyone knows the Indian skipper’s prowess with the bat. The opener holds several records in his long 18-year international career. From holding the highest individual score in ODI cricket to hitting the most sixes in international cricket, Rohit holds many records.

He isn’t a mug with the ball in hand either. The now-occasional off-spinner has a hat-trick in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Now many know, but before he became a prolific run-scorer, Rohit Sharma had the ambition of becoming a spinner and showed his mettle with the ball in the 2009 edition of the league.

Rohit took 11 wickets in 2009, including a hat-trick. Interestingly, the off-spinner dismissed Abhishek Nayar, Harbhajan Singh, and JP Duminy for the now-defunct Deccan Chargers against his current side, the Mumbai Indians. But to see him keep wickets is a sight to behold.

Not much is known about against whom and for which side he’s playing here. But looking back at it, it looks like the image is from before he made his debut for the India cricket team in 2007. Not only that, you can also deduce that Rohit Sharma is playing in a limited-overs match due to the use of colored clothing.
