Suryakumar Yadav was the standout performer in a thrilling first T20I, securing a dramatic 2-wicket win for India against Australia in Visakhapatnam on Thursday, November 23. In his debut as captain, Suryakumar Yadav showcased impressive leadership qualities, especially considering the team’s young composition.

When asked about the tense moments in the dressing room, Suryakumar Yadav said: “It was a bit tense, considering the number of inexperienced players in the dressing room. However, there was a palpable sense of excitement among all. Seeing the total, everyone in the dressing room expressed, ‘If we clinch this game, it’ll be incredibly enjoyable and rewarding.'”

A mere four days following the disappointing setback at the 2023 World Cup and a forgettable performance, Suryakumar Yadav delivered a pivotal innings, scoring 80 runs off a mere 42 balls. His outstanding performance played a key role in propelling India to a commanding position in a massive chase of 209 runs.

Suryakumar Yadav further contributed to the remarkable performance by establishing a sensational 112-run partnership for the third wicket alongside Ishan Kishan, who amassed 58 runs from 39 balls. This partnership played a crucial role in laying the foundation for the challenging run chase.
