Lucknow Super Giants head coach Justin Langer revealed that Mayank Yadav and is up & running and hopes to return to action soon. LSG beat MI by 12 runs to win their first game at home in the ongoing IPL 2025. An injury-prone Mayank is currently recovering from multiple injuries at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru.
When will Mayank Yadav return?
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Langer heaped praise on the CoE for helping bring their pacers back to full fitness. Avesh Khan and Akash Deep, LSG’s pacers who were injured apart from Mayank and missed the first few IPL games, were nursed back to full fitness and have now been cleared to play in IPL 2025.
“So, Mayank is up and running, which is really great for Indian cricket and the IPL. We saw the impact he had last year. I don’t think there’s been a bowler in India who has bowled faster than Mayank. He’s up, he’s keen to get going. He’s bowling really well with the NCA in Bengaluru yesterday,” Langer said.
Mayank was expected to regain fitness before the India vs. England series in January, but even after five months of rehabilitation, the speedster hasn’t recovered. He also suffered a toe injury earlier, leading to a delay in his comeback.
Mayank had impressed everyone with his ability to go over 150 km consistently, and that too with losing his line and length. A skill is rare among speedsters. However, the injury wasn’t far still. Mayank sustained a side strain injury after just 2 matches. He returned but couldn’t; two matches later, he was injured once again. After playing just 4 matches and bowling just 73 balls, his maiden IPL season was done.
