Mayank Yadav for T20 World Cup? Ex-India opener feels pacer will ‘force selectors’ after IPL show

Mayank is nwow now only the second Indian pacer, after Umran Malik, and fifth overall to go past 156 kph in the IPL.

Mayank Yadav continues to receive widespread acclaim for his formidable bowling performances in the IPL 2024. The right-arm pacer took his second consecutive 3-wicket haul in the ongoing tournament, boasting the third-best bowling figures of the season. Following his impressive display where he clocked 155.8 kph against Punjab Kings, Yadav outdid himself by delivering the fastest ball of IPL 2024 at 156.7 kph.

Aakash Chopra, former Indian opener, suggested that Yadav’s stellar showings in IPL 2024 could push selectors to contemplate his inclusion in the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup later this year.

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Chopra highlighted Yadav as one of the standout performers in the thrilling encounter between LSG and RCB.

Mayank Yadav’s pace once again arrested and demolished the opposing team. 155.8 kph in the last match and 156.7 now. I feel he will run very fast in the Purple Cap race. Secondly, although he might not be selected, he will force the selectors to think about him for the T20 World Cup,” he said.

“Three wickets on this ground. He hardly gave any runs in his four overs. He made it a 16-over game. He has already bowled one of the five fastest balls in the history of this tournament. He first dismissed Maxi (Glenn Maxwell) and the ball he dismissed Cameron Green with, that is the ball of the tournament,” the former India opener added.
