Mayank Yadav could be part of T20 World Cup, selectors have eyes on pacer: Report

Mayank Yadav is a Delhi based pacer having played two List A games and representing North Zone in Deodhar trophy

Mayank Yadav has impressed with his brilliant pace and accuracy in the current season of the IPL. With 6 wickets from the 3 games played, he holds the record for the fastest delivery in IPL with a speed of 156.7 kph, against RCB. He had figures of 3/27 against Punjab and 3/14 against Bengaluru, claiming some crucial wickets. He also won two successive player of the match awards.

Selectors monitoring Mayank Yadav’s performance

As per a report by Cricbuzz, the selectors are keeping a keen eye on the 21-year-old right arm fast bowler, with the T20 World cup approaching soon. The selection panel is playing close attention on the pacer , and Mayank would pose a huge challenge for the opposition batsman with his pace. The team management would consider various factors like his fitness, accuracy, consistency and game sense.

Mayank’s speed and accuracy can be a lethal combination for the team along with Jasprit Bumrah for the Indian squad. Having a great height, he can deliver deliveries with great control over the other bowlers. He has changed the length of the deliveries, without affecting the pace in the deliveries. Mayank has played a crucial role in dismissing major batsmen in the current IPL. While he claimed the wicket of Jonny Bairstow against Punjab, he accounted for Glen Maxwell and Cameron Green against RCB.

Other probable pacers in World Cup 11

Other bowlers who might make the playing 11 along with Mayank Yadav are Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj. The three pace department would be an important part for the Indian contingent on the pitches in the United States, where the T20 world cup is slated to take place. With green pitches on offer in some of the matches, it will be a delight to watch the fast bowlers perform.
