Matthew Potts blows India A away, throws his hat in IND vs ENG Test series contention

Potts last played a Test match for England in June 2023 and has been out of red-ball reckoning since, despite putting up splendid performances.

English express pacer Matthew Potts has blown away the Abhimanyu Easwaran-led India A side with a magnificent 6-wicket haul in Ahmedabad. Potts, who was not selected for the ongoing IND vs ENG Test series, showed his class cleaning up India’s whole top and middle order.

His victims in the India A vs England Lions 3rd unofficial Test were skipper Easwaran, Sai Sudharsan, Devdutt Padikkal, Tilak Varma, Rinku Singh, and Akash Deep.

Matthew Potts’ splendid display comes off the back of continuous disappointments. Having played both Tests and ODIs for the England cricket team, Potts found himself out of the reckoning in all the major series and tournaments. He was not selected for the Ashes, the ODI World Cup 2023, and now the IND vs ENG Test series.

This magnificent spell (16.2-3-57-6) has restricted India A to just 192 runs on Day 1 of the India A vs England Lions 3rd unofficial Test.

His 6-wicket haul has not only provided the England Lions with a chance to level the series (1-1) but is also the best chance to throw in his hat for the remainder of the India vs England Test series.
