The Chennai Super Kings’ campaign isn’t going the way they wanted. After losing Devon Conway for at least the first half of the IPL 2024 season, there is a major doubt over Matheesha Pathirana’s fitness. The Sri Lankan pacer has already missed three of the five matches CSK have played, and there is no certainty that he’ll be playing the MI vs CSK game on April 14 either.
Stephen Fleming, ‘hopeful’ of Matheesha Pathirana’s return
The slingly pacer serves as an incredible middle and death-over option for Ruturaj Gaikwad and Co. He claimed a 3-fer against the Delhi Capitals in his last match on March 31 but then missed two consecutive matches against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders.
Ahead of the MI vs CSK match, Chennai Super Kings head coach Stephen Fleming said in the pre-match press conference:
“It was not as bad as what we had thought, so we are very hopeful that if not tomorrow, then very close. We know the importance of him in games like this, but we will make sure he is 100 percent in this form.”
