While Gambhir was away, the team didn’t miss a beat. The support staff, including Abhishek Nayar, Ryan ten Doeschate, and Morne Morkel oversaw the coaching duties. Returning Rohit Sharma led the team to a win in a practice match against the Prime Minister’s XI in Canberra by 6 wickets. That two-day affair was shortened into a 46-over per-side game due to persistent rain.
