The great Sachin Tendulkar congratulated Virat Kohli after the latter registered his 49th ODI ton. With a special century in the IND vs SA World Cup, Kohli has now matched Sachin Tendulkar’s World record of 49 ODI centuries.
The master blaster took to social media to congratulate King Kohli. He wrote, “Well played Virat. It took me 365 days to go from 49 to 50 earlier this year. I hope you go from 49 to 50 and break my record in the next few days. Congratulations!!”

Sachin Tendulkar sent a witty message on his social media platform. He claimed that it took him 365 days to turn 50 years old from 49, but he wished that Kohli would go on to slam his 50th ODI ton in the next few days to go past him and achieve a major World Record.

After a powerful start by Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, it was Virat Kohli along with the company of Shreyas Iyer who stitch a strong partnership to help India pile a big total of 326 runs on the board. Kohli was ever patient as he rotated strikes without taking any risk to hit big shots. It took him 119 balls and 10 fours to reach the landmark of 49 ODI tons.
“I’m grateful to god for giving me the chance to play and contribute to the team’s success. It’s great to get a hundred on my birthday in front of this big crowd at this great venue. The pitch is on the slower side, we have a quality bowling line-up as well, but we’ll have to work hard. Wickets will be the key, getting a couple early will put them under pressure with the way this pitch is behaving,” said Virat Kohli after his tremendous knock.
