On Monday, two brothers lit up Wankhede Stadium with superlative performances. In the other match on Tuesday, Mitchell Marsh is aiming to replicate his brother Shaun Marsh’s feat. Shaun smashed 616 runs for Kings XI Punjab to win the IPL Orange Cap in 2008. 17 years later, Mitchell can replicate his feat. He is currently the second in the IPL 2025 Orange Cap leaderboard with 265 runs in five innings.
On Tuesday, Mitchell smacked a 48-ball 81-run knock in the KKR vs LSG match in Kolkata. On a pitch that aided shot-making, Mitch hammered six fours and five sixes, striking at 168.75 despite a slow start. He added 99 runs with Aiden Markram opening the innings, and then added another 72 runs off just 30 deliveries with equally destructive Nicholas Pooran.

Mitchell Marsh in IPL 2025
IPL 2025 is already Mitchell Marsh’s best season in the league. His previous best was 251 runs in 2022 in 8 innings. He has surpassed that in just five innings this time. While he is not bowling in this IPL due to a back issue, Mitch is giving his all in batting. He has given LSG fast starts this season, taking the attack to the opposition early on.

Strong competition from Nicholas Pooran
However, it won’t be easy for Mitchell Marsh. His Lucknow Super Giants teammate Nicholas Pooran has been in superb form as well. The current leader of IPL 2025 Orange Cap, Pooran has already scored 288 runs. He hammered an unbeaten 87 off 36 balls in the KKR vs LSG match on Tuesday to take the lead again.
With nine matches left in the league stage, Marsh will have a chance to surpass Pooran and so will the West Indies star.
