With Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, and Virat Kohli dismissed cheaply for scores of 4, 1, and 3 respectively, questions arise about why India’s batting coach is not addressing the persistent issues in the team’s batting. In the second Test match against Australia, India’s batting performance was below average. Since there is no dedicated batting coach in the team, the responsibility falls on head coach Gautam Gambhir to guide and mentor the batters effectively.
“I guess the time has come to scrutinise the role of a batting coach in the Indian team. Why major technical issues have remained unresolved for so long with certain Indian batters,” Sanjay Manjrekar wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
Manjrekar’s concern for Virat Kohli
Manjrekar special mentioned how the recurring technical flaws in some players remain unaddressed. His remarks appeared to be directed at Virat Kohli, who once again fell victim to a wide delivery outside the off stump, resulting in his early departure to the pavilion.
