The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 Auction is around the corner with all IPL Franchises looking to strengthen their team ahead of IPL 2024. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Sunday announced that the IPL 2024 Auction will be conducted by new auctioneer Mallika Sagar.
The IPL 2024 Auction will take place on December 19 at the Coca Cola Arena in Dubai. 333 players will go under the hammer. There are 214 Indians, and the rest 119 are overseas players. Two players are from associate nations. 119 players are capped, and the rest, 215, are uncapped players.

The BCCI confirmed the development in a statement on Sunday. “An independent professional auctioneer, Ms. Mallika Sagar, will conduct the auction. She will be the sole arbiter as to all aspects of the auction,” the BCCI informed franchises.
Mallika Sagar is a art collector based in Mumbai. Mallika is no stranger to auctions though, She has been an auctioneer for over 20 years. In 2001 she became the first ever woman auctioneer from India at Chirstie’s.
She has a prior experience in handling sporting auctions too. She has been a part of the Pro Kababbdi League auction in 2021. Cricket auction is part of her portfolio too, having previously handled Women’s Premier League (WPL) auctions.
The Indian will replace experienced Hugh Edmeades who has been handling the IPL auctions over the past few years.
