Not many players get a longer rope in Test cricket in India. You fail, you go out for another player to come in. And the senior players of India Cricket Team advised Yashasvi Jaiswal to “make it count” every time he went out to bat. And he batted England out of the Test. Jaiswal smashed his second consecutive double century, remaining unbeaten on 214 off just 236 balls in IND vs ENG Rajkot Test. And that set things up for India. England folded for just 122 runs in 556-run chase, losing the 3rd Test by 434 runs.
“I’m just trying… whenever I’m set, to make it big. Because in Test cricket you never know, when you’re playing well you have to make it big,” Yashasvi Jaiswal said at the post match interview after IND vs ENG Rajkot Test.
However, his innings did not draw a perfect picture. He struggle to get going. Jaiswal only scored 18 off first fifty balls. But then, he upped the ante. He hammered 12 sixes and scored 50 runs on the next 32 balls. In the end, he hammered 14 fours and 12 sixes to remain unbeaten on 214 runs.
“It was pretty difficult for me because initially I wasn’t getting runs. So had to play the session, and get set. That’s when I felt I could score runs. After a while my back was not good. I didn’t want to go out of the field but since it was too much, I went out. Today when I came, I wanted to make sure that I take the game forward and bat till the end,” Yashasvi Jaiswal said.

Make it count, Make it Big
With many waiting in the queue to make India debut, Yashasvi Jaiswal is not leaving any opportunities. He is already a Test cricketer out of 1.5 billion Indians. But every time he steps out to bat, he wants to make it big and make it count.
“I tell myself whenever I get set, I need to score well because you can get out anytime. My seniors have said to make it count. The way Rohit bhai and Jaddu bhai played, that motivated me a lot. Their passion determined me to play session by session. I thought inside the dugout that when I go out there I should also make it count. Test cricket is hard, but I thought that when I’m in there, I need to give my 100%,” Yashasvi Jaiswal said.
