After entering the throwdown nets, Thakur was hit on his left shoulder while facing a throwdown from a support staff member. The incident took place around 15 minutes into the game. The ball was kicked up from a distance, caught Thakur in an awkward position, and hit the leading left shoulder of Thakur, resulting in a cry of pain.
Once Thakur finished batting, the physio put an ice pack sling on his shoulder. On what was supposed to be the final day of the Test at Centurion, which finished in three days with South Africa cruising to an innings victory, India were having nets sessions.
Shardul had scored a gritty 24 in the first innings of the IND vs SA 1st Test. However, a short ball in the second innings resulted in Thakur’s dismissal. Shardul also had a bad match with the ball, conceding over 100 runs in 19 overs with just a wicket to show for it.
