Pakistani players toil hard fielding and Catching practice ahead of IND vs PAK World Cup tie

Ahead of the much anticipated India vs Pakistan World Cup clash, Babar Azam and Co were spotted sweating hard in fielding practice. Pakistan has been troubled with poor fielding displays for quite some time. But now with playing on the grand stage, the Men in Green cannot afford to make any fielding mistakes.

About fielding – yes, I think we were not up to the mark in all three matches. I accept that. If we want to win the tournament, we have to improve our fielding, and we are working hard on this – in our last practice session we did focus more on this,” said Babar Azam at the Press Conference.

“My World Cup performance until now hasn’t been as expected, but hopefully, you will see a difference in the upcoming matches. When it comes to playing against India, we only encounter them in the World Cup, and there’s a significant gap between our matches. It’s not just due to the bowlers; I believe that some of my dismissals are a result of my own mistakes. I strive to minimise those mistakes as much as possible,” he added.

Speaking at the Press Conference ahead of the IND vs PAK clash, the focus of the players was on the fielding. After the normal Batting and Bowling practices, the players turned their focus to fielding and catching practices.

Pakistan have won both their opening games in the ICC World Cup 2023. Though they have not depicted dominant and convincing approaches, the Men in Green are a strong side nonetheless.

Among the problems that have plagued the side, fielding is a major concern for the Men in Green. Be it dropping crucial catches to no communication between the fielders, Pakistan has faltered time and again and has been made a laughing stock on social media. Babar Azam’s side decided a similar incident in the first World Cup warmup match against Australia.

With the entire World watching the game, Pakistan are preparing not to make any such mistakes in their clash against India. Therefore after the scheduled batting and bowling drills, all the players actively toiled hard in the fielding sessions.

Be it the first XI players like Shaheen Afridi, and Saud Shakeel to reserve and nets players like Abrar Ahmed, all played a vital role in the drills. The players were spotted practicing high catches, short and quick catches to improve their reflexes, throwing practices and traditional throwdown.
