Chennai Super Kings have made it official! MS Dhoni is back to play one more edition of IPL and has been retained as an uncapped player ahead of IPL 2025 auction. Responding to the prayers of millions of fans, the former Indian skipper has decided to grace the audience with one more IPL season. Speculations over Thala’s retirement grew stronger with each passing season. And in response Dhoni has continued to participate in season after season, postponing his imminent retirement.

MS Dhoni retained by CSK ahead of IPL 2025

Despite being over 40 years old, MS Dhoni was one of CSK’s primary retention choices. Fans had their hearts in the mouths for a few days as the ex-skipper confirmed his participation in IPL 2025 just days before the deadline for teams to submit their retention lists MS Dhoni has been retained for a sum of Rs 4 cr.

Dhoni has been a part of the Chennai Super Kings ever since the inception of IPL in 2008. He has guided the side to five IPL titles during his reign as captain. As a part of CSK, MS Dhoni is responsible for grooming youngsters into international stars including Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Ruturaj Gaikwad and many more. He handed over the reins to Ruturaj Gaikwad before IPL 2024, marking the end of an era for CSK.
