Lucknow Super Giants to lose Justin Langer before IPL 2025? Head coach joins London Spirit in Hundred

After Dravid's exit as the Indian team head coach, Justin Langer's name was also speculated before BCCI nailed down on Gambhir.

The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) lost Gautam Gambhir as their mentor ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Will they now lose head coach Justin Langer before the IPL 2025 season? Well, there are not many speculations but the former Australian opener has added another franchise to his resume. On what has come as a massive development, Langer has joined the London Spirits as their new head coach in the Men’s Hundred.

Justin Langer becomes head coach in Men’s Hundred

Justin Langer has been named the Head Coach of London Spirit for The Hundred, following Trevor Bayliss’s departure that saw him in charge for three years. A legendary opening batter with over 100 Test appearances for Australia, Langer was pivotal in one of the greatest cricket teams of the modern era.

As Australia’s Head Coach (2018–2022), he led the team to retain the Ashes in England (2019), win the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup (2021), and dominate the Ashes at home. Langer’s coaching portfolio also includes success with the Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash League. Incredibly, his current role as Head Coach of IPL’s Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). He is not the only one who is double-duty.

Ricky Ponting, who recently became the head coach of the Punjab Kings (PBKS), won the Major League Cricket (MLC) last year for the Washington Freedom. Daniel Vettori, the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) coach, is the bowling coach for Australia’s men’s team.

“I’m thrilled to be appointed to this role with London Spirit, and I’m excited to experience The Hundred. I’m looking forward to being a part of the tournament later this year, and working with such a talented group of players and coaches,” Langer said after his appoitment.
