Lucknow Super Giants find themselves in a perilous position in IPL 2025. The side, who did not invest heavily on pacers in the mega auction, are now staring at exposing a depleted bowling attack in the upcoming edition. LSG‘s pace attack, on paper as of now, boasts of Akash Deep, Mohsin Khan, Avesh Khan, Mayank Yadav. Shamar Joseph among some of the experienced ones. Yet, they are staring at a huge problem.
LSG’s pace woes ahead of IPL 2025
As per a Cricbuzz report, Mohisn, Avesh and Mayank are yet to receive clearance from the National Cricket Academy (NCA) for IPL 2025. Avesh is currently rehabilitating for an issue with his knee cartilages. He was referred to the NCA in January following MP’s last Ranji Trophy match against Kerala. Mayank, who suffered a back injury in October, is still recovering and will reportedly miss the first half of IPL 2025.
Mohsin, on the other hand, last featured in a competitive cricket game in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. The nature of his injury is unknown and there is no information available on when he is expected to get a green signal either.
Meanwhile, Marsh has been cleared to play in IPL 2025 – but only as a pure batter. He was ruled out of the recently-concluded Champions Trophy owing to a back-injury. Hence, LSG are already one bowler short.
While LSG’s squad does have other pacers as well, they are largely inexperienced. Given the injury-prone nature of Mayank, Mohsin and Avesh, the team is staring at a huge loophole to fill, should their pace battery break down in the middle of IPL 2025.
