LSG’s 30 lakh recruit warrants a place in playing XI, could narrow their injury-stricken pace attack woes

Shot to fame from the previous U-19 World Cup, Arshin Kulkarni could provide the much-needed pace-bowling relief to LSG.

For now, LSG face a lot of issues with their pace-bowling attack. Their speedsters Mayank Yadav, Mohsin Khan and Avesh Khan are down with injuries, and are yet to get a clearance from the NCA. That leaves them with two/three frontline pace bowling options — again an injury prone Shamar Joseph, Akash Deep who is coming back after an injury, and Rajvardhan Hangargekar.

Arshin Kulkarni Could be an Effective Pacer

Mitchell Marsh is unlikely to bowl, so that makes him only a batter. In a nutshell, the team does not have pacers. But there is a catch.. In their ranks they have a 20-year-old Maharashtra all-rounder, who has impressed with the bat and his pace bowling, had decent returns in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Has Decent Record in Domestic T20s

Arshin Kulkarni could be the answer for LSG. In the gone season for his team, in the T20s, in 6 matches he scored 194 runs at an average of 32 and a strike-rate of 137. Now, the main part, with his bowling he went on to bag six wickets, where he went wicketless in only one of the matches.

While his economy is slightly on the higher side, 9.53, but then with the depleted pace attack that LSG has, this is a truly a blessing. Last year, in the two matches that he played for the side, his bowling wasn’t used at all, but that could just change this time around.
