However, du Plessis did not come onto the field after his innings and in his absence, Kohli took over captaincy. The stadium immediately erupted with chants of ‘Kohli, Kohli’ as the crowd was overjoyed to see the old RCB and team India leader back in his usual form, doing what he did with glory for many years.
Meanwhile, while Kohli might have impressive the crowd with his captaincy, his batting has been pretty substandard in IPL 2022. He had yet another nightmarish outing on Tuesday as Dushmantha Chameera dismissed him for a golden duck. This was only Kohli’s fourth golden duck in the history of IPL, while he also has now scored failed to score a century in 100 innings across all formats.
