Mayank surprised me: Shikhar Dhawan

Mayank bowled really well. His pace outsmarted us. It was nice facing him, surprised me with that pace. Knew as an experienced player I’d use it. But he figured it out and bowled yorkers to keep me down to a dot and a single. I was mindful and told my partners to use the short side. He bowled at Prabh’s body and got him out. Told Jitesh to leave Mayank and take on the other bowlers but they bowled well too and then used the pressure against us.

Lucknow win!

It seemed like Punjab would breach the Lucknow fortress when Dhawan and Bairstow added 102 runs opening stand. But Mayank Yadav changed it with his pace. His 3/27 on debut and Mohsin Khan’s 2/34 brought LSG back in the game as PBKS lost 5 wickets for 40 runs in 33 deliveries. In the end, Lucknow win by 21 runs despite Liam Livingstone’s late surge with 17-ball 28.

KL Rahul

For KL Rahul, it’s still unclear if he should bat in the middle order for a place in the T20 World Cup squad. He opened the innings for LSG in the first match. However, he will have to bat in the middle order and score runs as the top order in Team India is packed up.

PBKS aim to bounce back

Despite a winning start against DC, PBKS suffered an away loss to RCB. Now, they have to burry the demons of Lucknow and get back to winning.

Can LSG open their account?

LSG suffered a 20-run loss to Rajasthan Royals in their opening match. Despite KL Rahul top-scoring with 58 runs, his sluggish approach did raise eybrows. The other concerns are LSG’s middle-order that failed against RR. Their bowling too in absence of Mark Wood isn’t world class.
