LSG vs PBKS, IPL 2025: Clinical PBKS storm to second successive win at LSG’s expense

IPL 2025: Shreyas Iyer and Nehal Wahdera starred in 172-run chase as Punjab Kings chased down the target with 22 balls to spare.

LSG vs PBKS, IPL 2025: Punjab Kings brushed aside any concern over a slow Ekana Cricket Stadium pitch to decimate Lucknow Super Giants on Tuesday. This was PBKS’s second successive win in IPL 2025. The win helped PBKS jump to the second spot on IPL Points Table with 4 points. The massive win with 22 balls to spare also helped them with a huge Net Run Rate boost of +1.485.

PBKS had started their summer with a crushing win over the Gujarat Titans last week. While Shreyas Iyer was the star of the game with an unbeaten 97, the victory against LSG was headlined by a swashbuckling 69 off 34 balls by Prabhsimran Singh.

Prabhsimran leads PBKS’s chase

Chasing 172, PBKS were always in command thanks to Prabhsimran, who wasted no time in taking the attack to the LSG bowling attack.

Punjab lost Priyansh Arya early, and the bowler Digvesh Rathi was criticised for his nasty celebration of the wicket, but the drama was short-lived as Iyer joined Prabhsimran for more mayhem.

PBKS coach Ricky Ponting wants this to be the best IPL side from Punjab. And the former Australian captain was in great spirits in the dug-out. Prabhsimran Singh was a sight to behold and raced away to the fastest ever IPL fifty at the Ekana Cricket Stadium.

Prabhsimran’s knock was studded with 9 fours and 3 sixes; so brutal was his knock that even Shreyas Iyer decided to take the backseat. The Prabhsimran innings was finally ended by Rath,i but the damage was severe and PBKS were merely minutes away from victory.

Shreyas Iyer delivers again

Shreyas Iyer raced away to his second successive half-century and Impact Sub Nehal Wadhera made an impressive PBKS debut as the visitors steamrolled a bowling attack which relied heavily on spin.

Iyer wasn’t just outstanding with the bat – he brought his A game as captain as well. Arshdeep Singh dismissed Mitchell Marsh for a golden duck while Lockie Ferguson removed Aiden Markram for a quick 28 before Iyer brought Glenn Maxwell into the attack – the Australian all-rounder struck immediately to remove Pant for the third time in the IPL.

171/7 not enough

Nicholas Pooran (44), Ayush Badoni (41) and Abdul Samad (27) helped LSG post 171, but it was clear they were never going to be able to challenge a fiery PBKS batting line-up with that total after Rishabh Pant failed again.

Arshdeep Singh was the pick of the bowlers for PBKS and finished with 3 wickets while Ferguson, Maxwell, Marco Jansen and Yuzvendra Chahal picked 1 wicket apiece.

Punjab Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Delhi Capitals have now firmly established themselves as the teams to beat this year – these are still early days but so far, these three sides are unbeaten and could be among the most dominant teams.
