LSG Playing XI vs DC: Shardul Thakur comes in, Prince Yadav replaces Mayank Yadav

Sharmar Joseph and Matthew Breetzke are the two foreign players who will sit out for LSG.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will bat first in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 opening encounter against the Delhi Capitals (DC). In what was the LSG captaincy debut for Rishabh Pant, he lost the toss and was put in to bat first at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Vishakhapatnam.

“I wanted to bowl first, but it’s a good wicket, so we can bat well and put up a good score,” Pant said on batting first.

Having played for DC his entire IPL career, Pant clearly stated that it’s surreal to play against them. Of course, that won’t mean that he won’t give his best for LSG and do what he can to beat DC in his first match since leaving them.

“I have played for DC all my life, so a lot of emotions are there,” the LSG captain added.

With Mayank Yadav, Avesh Khan and Akash Deep injured, Pant announced that they are giving Prince Yadav his maiden IPL cap. While Shardul Thakur, who replaced Mohsin Khan, will start for them. With six overseas options available, LSG aren’t playing Sharmar Joseph and Matthew Breetzke.

“Preparations have been well; everyone is in the right shape and in the right frame of mind. Markram, Marsh, Pooran and Miller are our four overseas players,” Pant added.
