LPL franchise Dambulla gets new name & new owner after match-fixing termination

Dambulla had undergone an owner change after the 2023 season and renamed themselves the Thunders (Aura prior).

The Dambulla franchise of the Lankan Premier League (LPL) was facing an uncertain future after its previous owner, Tamim Rahman, was arrested on suspicion of match-fixing. This led to the termination of the franchise a few weeks ago.

Sequoia Consultants, Inc., a civil engineering firm led by Sri Lankan-American cricket enthusiast Priyanga De Silva, has stepped in to take over the franchise. De Silva, a former Sri Lankan U19 cricketer, is excited to be a part of the LPL and contribute to the growth of cricket in Sri Lanka.
