LPL 2021 – Lanka Premier League Postponed: The Lanka Premier League (LPL 2021) set to begin on July 30 has been postponed to the end of August due to rising COVID-19 cases in Sri Lanka. This means now one more cricket tournament is likely to clash with Indian Premier League (IPL 2021 Phase 2) as both will attempt to complete season before T20 World Cup.

LPL 2021 Postponed – Will it impact IPL 2021 Phase 2? Unlike Caribbean Premier League whose scheduling is causing big problem for IPL 2021 in UAE – LPL 2021 postponement and possible scheduling in September will not be a big headache for BCCI.

First none of the Sri Lankan team player is featuring in IPL this season – nor top foreigners who played in LPL last year will give Sri Lankan league preference over IPL.

LPL 2021: West Indian cricketer could opt out of LPL

The West Indian cricketers are likely to opt for CPL which is scheduled to begin on August 28 and LPL may struggle for top names this year.

Few players like Andre Russell last season played in both LPL & IPL – but this year 1st he will be busy with Caribbean Premier League and will straightaway reach UAE to join KKR squad to play IPL in September.

This means the only loser by the postponement of the Lankan league will be LPL itself who will now find it hard to get top players for their 2nd edition.
