Lost in translation? Pakistan pacer reveals struggle to communicate with new foreign coaches

Pakistan pacer Naseem Shah has highlighted the challenges posed by the language barrier when it came to speaking with the coaches

Pakistan cricket team pacer Naseem Shah highlighted the language barrier factor when it comes to communicating with the coaches of the team. Pakistan have two foreign players as their head coaches currently – Gary Kirsten and Jason Gillespie.

Ahead of the series against Bangladesh, Naseem spoke about how it was difficult to communicate with the coaches as they did not know the local language.

Naseem Shah struggles to speak with Gary Kirsten, Gillespie

There is a language problem with foreign coaches. We need someone to translate the language. It is easier to communicate with the coach in your own language,” Naseem was quoted as saying by the Cricket Pakistan.

Naseem Shah was rewarded with Grade A central contract ahead of the start of Pakistan’s international schedule. The PCB have been very cautious about injury-prone Naseem’s workload management and even denied him NOC to play in GT20 Canada.

Pakistan is slated to play 2 Test matches at Rawalpindi and Karachi later in the month. Shan Masood will be leading the side with Saud Shakeel serving as his deputy. The Men in Green under red ball coach Jason Gillespie will begin their preparatory camp in Rawalpindi on August 11.
