After losing the one-off Test against India at the Wankhede Stadium a few days back, the Australian women’s team has shown with their ODI series win, that they are head-and-shoulders above India in this format. That also means, out of the 52 ODIs played between there two sides, Australia have come out on top on 42 occasions.
All-rounder Annabel Sutherland has made it clear that they won’t take the third ODI any easy, and would press only for a win. “It is probably a testament to the consistency in the cricket that we’ve played, over a number of years,” Sutherland told the media.
“I think the depth across the squad as well, you see, anyone from the (squad of) 15 can come in and play their role,” added Sutherland. “We are pretty keen to win this last game of the series. We will be putting our best team out there and looking to go 3-0 in the series to lead into the T20s with some momentum,” she added.
She went on to say that the level of competition in Australia’s domestic structure has ensured such performances at international stage. “It probably goes down to the quality of domestic cricket back home as well, that every player is exposed to different conditions and challenging circumstances so that in the international stage, it’s not too big of a jump,” she said.
