Team India completed a fine chase thanks a decent batting performance by Indian batting-order. Suryakumar Yadav who given another go did not fail to disappoint this time as the batter completed his third fifty in the ODI format. Thanks to his partnership alongside skipper Rahul, India completed a dominating win the Aussies in Mohali on Friday. Apart from Surya, Shubman Gill, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Rahul also completed their half-centuries.
I was dreaming this kind of innings: SKY on his knock
Chasing a total of 277 runs, India got off to a good start as both openers completed their respective fifties with the bat. However, India lost two wickets in quick succession as the Australians sniffed a comeback. However, both Yadav and KL Rahul steadied the ship. The former in particular showed great restraint, curbing his attacking instincts and playing some classic shots including the straight drives. Yadav completed his fifty but couldn’t stay till the end to finish the match for the home side.
I was dreaming of this type of innings when I started playing this format. Trying to bat deep and finishing the game, unfortunately couldn’t do it today but very happy with the result. I’d been wondering what had been happening for me in this format, the teams and bowlers were the same. I went back and reflected and realized I was probably rushing things a bit so I decided to play slower and take it deep,” SKY said after the match.
“I think it’s the first time I haven’t played a sweep. This has come from the Chandu Pandit school of arts (on his straight drives). Really enjoyed watching the openers bat. Want to try and bat the same way, bat deep, try and win games for India,” he added.
